Post pandemic marriage
During the
height of Covid, the world was in a lockdown state where non-essential workers
had to stay home, with family and face all the issues we run away from or use
our busyness to cover up - ourselves. As humans, we tend to quickly see other
people as the problem, yes, your spouse can be highly annoying but if we begin
to live life with this simple philosophy things might begin to look a little
different.
The
philosophy is - I cannot control the actions of other, I can only control my
reaction and influence the change I want to see.
In
marriage love is not enough. Something stronger than love can make a marriage
break for example Abuse, o irresponsibility, infidelity or neglect.
A
successful marriage is a result of the application of knowledge and not the
exchange of love. You can love something but not know how to do it. I love the piano,
but I do not know how to play it, I have tried to learn but using both hands at
the same time is a struggle for me.
The Bible
says people are destroyed cause of lack of knowledge. Ignorance is a choice, it
is generational. You owe it to the next generation to learn about yourself,
learn about your world and your family. There less you know the less you can
teach the next generation and vice versa.
The 4
types of love you have heard of brotherly, sexual, friendship and God's tope of
love. The 2 most important elements to sustain and enjoy a healthy marriage is
agape love and knowledge.
It's
important we take time to reflect upon our goals, actions, visions, dreams and
share this with your spouse. Go back to what made you both decided to spend the
rest of your life together, look at old pictures and letters or emails. Build
new memories together and don't let the weight of the world with your marriage
down. Join a clubhouse group that pray for marriages.
May your
marriage be more peaceful, joyful, lovely, glorious, beautiful and
victorious.
Speak
words of affirmation for yourself and your marriage.
