Declutter

Chaos, Regulation, Shield, Board

Clutter - we all have it in our homes. It could be drawer, a room, under the bed, a space or even the whole house. Did you know clutter actually cause stress? A lot of people would agree and the next question comes. Where do i start from and how can i maintain a clean space constantly.

Think of brain - it is organised in such a way that you can retrieve most information if given the right clues. Your home space should be a haven of relaxation and enjoyment.

Why do you think we enjoy staying in hotels so much - or now AirBnBs . It is because the space is clean, tidy and organised. Your home can be similar to living in a hotel.

Tips to achieve a clutter free space;

TIME

Dedicate at least 15 minutes a day to clean out a draw, space or corner (light cleaning). Make it fun and play some music while cleaning, makes all the difference. Dedicate about 2 hours a week to deep clean or hire a cleaner once a month.

Did you know you waste alot of precious time looking for things within a cluttered space? Try getting clear boxes from Ikea and store only things you use within a year anything else should be chunked out - yes even your college baseball cap - if you are not wearing it anymore, take a picture it lasts longer, ebay it or chunk it out - seriously .

MINIMALIST STRATGIES

If you bring something in, get rid of something. This has made a ton of difference in my life. Before i buy anything new - i ensure i take something out to charity, recycle or just gift it but ensure its gone before you buy something new. From clothes, shoes, furniture whatever you plan on buying make sure something else in the house is taken away.

                                                    GET ORGANISED

Go room by room and divide your things into 4 boxes ;
  • Donate
  • Throwaway
  • Keep
  • Store
Do not move to the next room until one is completely done.

                                                   MAINTAINANCE

Clutter is a normal part of life - but when it overtakes your space, home and life then it needs to be fixed. Its a great thing to get a space cleaned out but how do you maintain it ?
Enjoy your home and space. A cleared out space should not be left unused - turn it to a work out corner, add a beautiful painting, let you hobby be reflected in your home. Use and enjoy your space, invite friends over and enjoy your home. An organised clutter is logical and minimal especially when you have children.

After all , you pay a large amount every month to live in that space and making the best use of it , would be a great investment. Check your emotional health, clutter has been linked to stress, anxiety, depression and other illness. Seek the help you need and ask for help - don't do it alone.

I would love to hear your comments and feedback.
Happy cleaning .......
